Message Notes

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created mankind in his own image,

in the image of God he created them;

What, or who’s image are you reflecting?

  1. Read Genesis 1:26-27, what does it mean when it reads “Let us make mankind in our image…”?  What does it mean to rule over the fish, birds, livestock and wild animals/all the creatures that move along the ground?

  2. Do you think humans are special to God?  Why or why not?  What makes us different than the rest of the creation? Why were we created?

  3. Read Ephesians 2:10, what does it mean when it reads “created in Christ Jesus”?  What does it mean when it says …”which God prepared in advance for us to do” when discussing good works?  Why do you think good works would not be sufficient for us to enter heaven by?

  4. Explain freewill.  Do you think God created us with freewill?  If so, why?

  5. Is it necessary for people to have relationships?

  6. What is the significance of being formed from God’s breath?

  7. If someone asked you to explain the Trinity, what would your response to them be?

  8. How would you explain to someone who believes in the theory of evolution about creation?

  9. Pray for each other. Pray for our church, pray for our community…. pray for the people in your life to come to faith in Jesus.
