Luke 24:13-35
April 5, 2026

.
Matthew 28:6
He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.
.
Today we commemorate the most important date in human history.
Jesus walked out of the grave, defeating __________!
After His resurrection, He first appeared to ________ _______________.
There was a lot of ______________! Some accounts of disbelief:
- One woman thought He was a ____________ (Luke 24:37)
- One thought He was the _________________ (John 20:15)
- Others doubted it was Him even after hearing several eyewitness accounts and seeing an empty _____________ (Luke 24:10-12)
.
Walking with Jesus (Luke 24:13-18)
- Two men were walking home after the events that took place in Jerusalem- Jesus’ slow, painful, death on the cross.
- They didn’t realize they were walking with Jesus! They were “_____ ______ _______________ _______.” (16)
- They questioned Jesus, confused why He didn’t know all that had happened. (18)
.
They’re both walking with Jesus.
But what does it really mean to walk with Jesus.
Ask yourself, “Who is Jesus to me?”
.
The men are questioning God. When in a trial, do you question God?
- The Bible tells us God’s ways are so much higher than our ways! (Isaiah 55:8-9)
- There are no promises in the Bible that this life will be easy.
- We must first _______ ourselves. And we must ________ _____ our cross daily and follow Jesus. (Matthew 16:24-26)
- When we “take up our cross,” we take the focus off ____________ and put that focus on ___________! Sometimes enduring hardships.
- Our pain has purpose! He is turning us into a _______________!
- During extended trial, we remember Psalm 34:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
- With God, nothing ___ ________________!
- Keep following Jesus as He leads you through!
.
Walking With Jesus continued… (Luke 24:19-35)
- Jesus questioned the men and they gave their take on who Jesus was to them. They had a ______ ____________ about Jesus but didn’t yet have a ___________ ________________ with Him. (19-24)
- A lot of evidence presented: _______ empty, No _______ there. (22)
- Evidence will never be enough for you to believe in Jesus!
- Becoming a Christian requires Faith!
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for
and assurance about what we do not see.
- At the end of their walk, they ___________ Jesus in (29), and He _______________ Himself to them! (31)
- The two men immediately spread _____ _________ _______! (34)
.
Final Thoughts:
What’s your “toy cheeseburger?”
What sin are you stuck in?
What sin is Jesus telling you that you need to repent and give to Him?
Who is Jesus to you?
Is Jesus coming along side you today saying Follow Me?
Are you ready to invite Him into your life?
