BYO Bible!-January
Have a Bible just sitting around the house not getting any use? Looking to get a new Bible? Calling on everyone to bring your Bible to church for the next series starting in January (now is good too!). The church also has extra Bibles if you need one. Digital Bibles are great tools to use but also can sometimes be a distraction. Dust off that old print Bible and bring it on in so we can all dig into God’s Word together.
Zelle
The board is working on setting up Zelle to use for a digital option for giving.
Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks.
- Read Luke 14:25-33, what are some of the tools we can use to understand what this scripture means? What is the context of this verse? What are some things that were commonplace 2000 years ago that we may not easily understand now?
- Should these verses be taken literally or not? What is the justification for your answer?
- Read Matthew 7:3, what does this scripture mean to you?
- Read Matthew 16:5-6, what is yeast? What does it often represent in scripture? Is Jesus talking about literal yeast or is there a deeper meaning?
- What are two ways that scripture can be interpreted? Are there other ways to interpret scripture? How can we tell what is the best way for each scripture we review?
- What does it mean in verse 27 to carry our own cross?
- It was stated in the sermon that when Jesus uses the word hate in verse 26 that it can mean to love less. If that is true, why do you think the scribes did not just write in that phrase instead? Using a Bible app, read the verse in the NLT. Why do you think the NLT states the verse differently than other translations?
- Do you have someone on your mind you have been thinking about inviting to church but have been hesitant? Christmas Eve is an excellent time to invite them in! We will be praying for you for God to give you the courage to ask them to come!
2 Corinthians 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf,
so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
