Context of the Church in Corinth:

Corinth was destroyed in _________ BC.

The city was rebuilt in ________BC.

The city hosted the ______________ games every 2 years.  That would attract athletes from all over the Roman Empire.

Sailors would rather travel the ______ mile isthmus through Corinth rather than the _________ mile dangerous trip around the peninsula.

The Bible tells us that there is no private ____________________  of scripture.  (2 Peter 1:20)

Everyone are not  ___________ of God.  God gives us a choice to choose Him or not.

Jesus, after being baptized was lead into the desert to be _________________.

      • Donut & Coffee Ministry—bring in donuts and make that oh so important drink for many of us, coffee!
  • A Search Team will be put together to start the process of finding a new pastor.
    • The typical time to replace a Pastor is 12-18 months. Please wait on the Lord with us!
    • The team will update the church regularly
  • Prayer is a critical part of this process! Please pray continually for the board’s guidance in seeking God’s will.

  1. What are some things that you have learned about the city and/or the church in Corinth? Why do you think Paul would think it is a good place to plant a church?

  2. Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-4, what are some ways deception can become part of a church today? What do you think it means in verse 3 when Paul says, “it is veiled to those who are perishing”?

  3. Is everyone a child of God? How would you go about finding an answer to the question in the Bible?  Who is the “god of this age” in verse 4?

  4. Read 2 Corinthians 4:5-9, what is meant by the term “jars of clay” in verse 7? Look up the term for “hard pressed” in verse 8 in your Bible app.  What does the term mean?  How is the word translated in some other Bible versions?

  5. Does every Christian go through trials?   Why do you think God allows trials in our lives?

  6. Read 2 Corinthians 4:10-15, how can Jesus life “be revealed in our mortal body”? What do you think is meant by “raise us with Jesus” in verse 14?

  7. Read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, how are we “renewed day by day”? Why would Paul say we have “light and momentary troubles” when some troubles may last our whole life?

  8. Read 1 John 1:9, do we have to confess all of our sins? Why or why not?  What will happen if we don’t confess our sins?

  9. Do you have someone in your life that is struggling? Whether they are a Christian or not, would you commit to taking time this week to pray for that person this week?
