WK 6 – At Home With The Lord!

2 Corinthians 5:1-10

February 9, 2025

John Arobio

BYO Bible- This is the sixth week!

Did you bring your bible?

Paul wrote ______ letters to the Corinthians.

2 Corinthians is the _______ letter that Paul wrote to them. Corinth was a wealthy city built by the Greeks, destroyed and then rebuilt by the Romans. It was a port city but was very sinful.

The temple of _________ was there with a ________ temple priestesses, prostitutes.

HOME

The average American has lived in ________ homes in their lives.

2 Corinthians 5:1 NIV

1Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Our earthly homes are a flimsy tent. This comes from the Hebrew word __________. When we get to heaven with will have a permanent home built by God own hands.

Sukkot or Feasts of _________________or Booths. It is where the Jewish people commemorate the Exodus from Egypt. It would be celebrated by the Jews who would erect temporary shelters and live in them for the week.

Bible tip: When reading the Bible accept the plain and simple _______________meaning unless there is a reason to believe that the meaning is different. For instance, using the word like or something is clearly not real such as mountains clapping.

Paul is really saying that this tent or building is our_____________ which houses our spiritual _________________.

We also see that we are not naked because we are clothed with the ______________ of God. All our sins and imperfections have been ______________ with the blood of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:5 NIV

5Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

We were also given the Spirit as a _____________, guaranteeing what is to come. It is a downpayment on the future yet to come.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 NIV

6Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7For we live by faith not by sight

However, there is one important thing about being in this earthly body. While we are in it we are ____________ from the Lord. Not spiritually but physically. When we die we are immediately in the ______________ of the Lord.

How do we know this and how can Paul be so sure about it? It is because we take God at His Word. God’s Word is not ________________. It the same now as it has always been and will always be. Paul says we live by ____________. I would rather take His Word then anyone else’s word. Faith is taking God at His Word.

2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV

10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one of us may receive what it due for us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

We will all go through a judgment before Christ. This will not be a judgment of our sins for salvation. This is not referring to the  ____________ seat/throne judgment.

Bottom Line: To be absent from the body is to be home with the Lord.
