Zechariah 9:9 NKJV

⁹ “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!

Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King is coming to you;

He is just and having salvation,

Lowly and riding on a donkey,

A colt, the foal of a donkey.

Our Church Commission is to know God’s Word and to live it by sharing the gospel of salvation through Jesus to all people, as is commanded in Matthew 28:19-20.  We will disciple believers by helping them grow in their personal relationship with God through prayer, study of His Word in the Bible, and living out His word by serving and loving one another.  This will equip us to go out into all nations and preach the gospel and make disciples, as commanded in Mark 16:15.

1. What are some things the Jewish people would have been looking for in the Messiah?

2. What is prophecy? What are some of the prophecies that we have looked at so far in this series that we see fulfilled in the New Testament?

3. Read Zechariah 9:9, what is the context of this prophecy in Zechariah? What is the symbolism of riding on a donkey in the context of that time?

4. What is the difference between the “minor” and the “major” prophets in the Bible?

5. If you wanted to look up in the Bible what is says about depression, what are some of the ways you could look up that topic?

6. What does it mean in the Bible when it says that believers are “justified”? Once you are “justified” are you always “justified”?

7. What is grace? Does God give grace to everyone?  Why or why not?

8. Read John 12:12-16, what is the significance of this event? Do you think the people understood who Jesus is?  Why or why not?  The word, “Hosanna” is not a word we might be familiar with.  How would you look up the meaning of this word?

9. Is there someone God is putting on your heart to reach out to about Jesus in 2026? Pray for God’s guidance to reach out.
