WK 16– “Are You Spiritually Empty?”

John 6:1-15 NASB

CONTEXT

Time Gap: ____ to _____ months from the end of Ch. 5 to the beginning of Ch. 6
Jesus was on his _________ mission trip to Galilee, He gave His longest recorded sermon “Sermon on the _________,” John the Baptist was ______, and Jesus and His disciples had heavy _________ and were ___________ worn out!
Mark 6:31 tells us they went to a remote location to get some _______!

A large crowd was following Him – John 6:1-3

Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near – John 6:4

“Where are we to buy bread so that these people may eat?” – John 6:5

Is Jesus looking for a practical answer? _____!

But He was saying this only to test him – John 6:6

Philip answered Him – John 6:7

What is meant by the phrase “synoptic gospels”?
Which gospel was written first? Which one was written last? How do we (or do we) know which order they were written?
Why did John write his gospel? How is John’s gospel different than the other 3 gospels?
Read John 6:1-6, when we talk about “following Jesus”, what is typically meant by that statement. Can you follow Jesus and not believe in Him? What is the difference? What are “signs” in the Bible (verse 2)? Does God still give us signs today? Why or why not?
What is Passover and what does it honor? What are some of the things that would happen in Jerusalem during the Passover?
Read John 6:7-15, what are some takeaways we can gather from the feeding of the 5000? Verse 14 says that some people thought that Jesus is a prophet. Were they correct? Why or why not? Why do you think they would want to take Him by force (verse 15)?
How does God’s Spirit work in our lives? What are some ways we can resist the Spirit? What are some of the ways the Spirit guides us?
Read 1 Corinthians 6:12, what is meant by this verse? What are some things that can take over our life and hinder our walk with Jesus?
