Everybody Always Week 1
Love People Where You Are
What does Love mean?
As followers of Christ, we must strive to Love like Christ.
“Love the Lord your God with all you heart and with all you soul and with all your strength and with all your mind” and “Love your neighbor and yourself.” Luke 10:27
To Love like Christ we must Love with
- No boundaries
- No favoritism
- Be willing to take risks, Even when it is hard
- Love your enemies no matter who they are. People who hurt us, homeless, unlikeable, different social ideas
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth, “Follow me” he told him and Matthew got up and followed him Matthew 9:9
Every day we encounter people as they are working or playing or socializing, etc. We must deal with them where they are.
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. Matthew 9:10
Jesus had a heart for people even if they were not leading a righteous life, He spent time with the sinners not the saints.
When the Pharisees saw this, they asked the disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not for the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:11-13
The Pharisees observed the religion with all its rules but they did not have compassion for people.
