Passages for next week if you would like to look ahead:

John 1:11-34

.

  1. What does “Gospel” mean? How many gospels do we have in the Bible? Who wrote the gospel accounts we have in the Bible?

  2. What are some of the differences and similarities in the Gospels?

  3. What are some of the things we know in scripture about the apostle John?

  4. Read John 1:1-5, why do you think John would have to make these statements? What is meant by “the darkness did not grasp it.” In verse 5?

  5. Read 1 Peter 4:12-13, why does God allow us to go through trials? Is every trial from God, why or why not?

  6. Read John 1:6-11, which John is being referred to in these verses? What are some ways our mission is the same as John’s mission?  Why do you think “His own people did not accept Him.” In verse 11?

  7. Read John 1:12-17, is everyone a child of God? Why or why not? How can Jesus be both God and “the only Son from the Father” in verse 14?  If someone who didn’t have any experience going to church or reading the Bible asked you to explain the trinity, how would you explain it?  How would you explain verse 18 that “No one has seen God at any time” when there are scriptures that show that people have seen God?

  8. What is grace? Does God give grace to everyone?  Why or why not?

  9. Please pray for volunteers for the children’s ministry. God is growing the ministry and more folks are needed to help out.
