AWE: Worshipping God Almighty!
Week 4, “Remember Who We Worship”
Isaiah 6:1-10

1.Who and Why?

Isaiah 6:2-3
2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

John 12:41
Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.

“Holy”
Adjective, set apart, sacred

What’s the Significance of the Seraphim saying, “holy, holy, holy?” _______________________________________________________

Exodus 3:14
…”I am, who I am.”
-God

2. Have you Been Ruined?

Isaiah 6:5
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Unclean Lips = Unclean Heart

Job 42:5-6, Luke 5:5-11

Isaiah 6:6-7
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for. ”

3. Isaiah’s, Commission (Verses 9-10) and ours too!

Isaiah 6:9-10
9 He said, “Go and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”

Be ever hearing and never understanding…

Be ever seeing and never perceiving…

Check yourself before you wreck yourself….

2. Not Everyone Believes What You Believe

Remember, we worship a God who is holy, and above the things of this world. We worship a God who, because of who He is ruins us when we are face to face with who He really is and who we really are. AND, we worship a God who still, even though we are chronic sinners, loves us anyway and still allows us to be part of His plan.
