God’s Task For Us and God’s Promise

Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

God Lives in Us!

Romans 8:11 ESV

  1. What is some things you can recall about David’s life that were good? What are some things you can recall about David’s life that were not good?  What would you say David’s legacy is?

  2. Read 1 Kings 1:1-4, what is the historical context of these verses?

  3. Read 1 Kings:1:5-8, who is Adonijah? How many children does David have?  What does it mean in verse 5 when Adonijah “exalted himself”?   Is there ever a proper time for us to “exalt ourselves”?  Why or why not?  What is the conflict that is going on in at this time?

  4. From this series, what kind of a king would you say David is? What kind of a father is he?  How can we in modern times be both great at our jobs and great at parenting?

  5. Is there a wrong or right way to ”parent”? All kids are different and require different attention but what are some things that are universally not good ideas to do when raising children?

  6. Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus tells us that He is with us always. Are there times when it is hard to feel His presence?  What are some things we should do when we have times of doubt or despair?

  7. Read 1 Kings 1:9-13, can we be religious and not have a relationship with God? What are ways we can try and impose religion on ourselves or others?

  8. Did Jesus die for everyone or just a select group of people? Can someone be a Christian and not think Jesus is God?

  9. What does it mean to repent? Do you have to repent to become a Christian?

  10. Read Hebrews 4:16, what does it mean to come boldly/with confidence to the throne of grace?
