How do we know a prophet is from God?

1. What is prophecy in the Bible? Why is it important?

2. Read Deuteronomy 13:1-3, what does it mean in verse 3 when it says that the Lord is “testing you”? Why does God test us?

3. Read Deuteronomy 18:20-22, what is the Biblical standard for prophecy accuracy? Can a prophet be wrong just a few times and be a prophet from God?  Why or why not?

4. Read Genesis 3:1-3, who is the serpent mentioned in this scripture? Did God tell Adam/Eve, “You shall not eat of every tree in the garden”?  What are some of the ways Satan tries to twist God’s Word? Did God tell Adam/Eve not to touch the fruit (verse 3)?

5. What are some ways we can either add to or take away from God’s Word?

6. Read Genesis 3:4-15, what do you think is meant in verse 7 when it says, “Then the eyes of both of them were opened.”? Can we hide from God?  Why or why not?

7. Do either Adam or Eve give a sincere apology to God? What is “enmity”?  Why is verse 15 significant?

8. What is the “Proto Evangelium”? If you had to explain someone what the gospel is, how would you explain it?
