Instead of repenting, David plunges into further sin

I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  1. What are some of the context tools we can use when studying the Bible?

  2. Read 2 Samuel 1-5, who are the Ammonites? If you were not sure who they are, what are some ways you could look up who they are?

  3. If you wanted to look up scriptures about adultery in the Bible, how could you do that? What are some of the scriptures that deal with adultery?

  4. Do you think both David and Batsheba are guilty of sin in these verses? Why or why not?

  5. When we are using resources outside of the Bible to help us understand the Bible, what are some things we should take into consideration?

  6. What is the difference between “exegesis” and “eisegesis” in terms of Bible study?

  7. Is there anything we can hide from God?

  8. Read 2 Samuel 11:6-13, what is David trying to do in these verses? What are some of the ways our sin can affect others?

  9. Is temptation a sin? Are there some temptations that are impossible to resist?  Why or why not?

  10. Is alcohol forbidden in the Bible? Are there any limitations regarding alcohol found in the Bible?

  11. Please pray that God will continue to reach out to more people for the Baptisms next week!  Are you a follower of Jesus and haven’t been baptized as an adult?  What is holding you back from getting baptized this Sunday?
