HOW SIN IS TREATED
We put sin into two categories.
They are _______ _______ ones and _____ ________ones.
God put sin into ____ category. God’s penalty for sin is _______.
ROMANS 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the fee gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
So, God can _________ all sin and not __________ it.
As he put it, it will be as far from him as the east is from the west.
But there is one exception where he does not forgive and forget a sin.
That is the sin of ___________ of the ______ ________.
Matthew 12:31-32 ESV
Therefore, I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age in the age to come.
DAVID’S PLAN TO MURDER URIAH
David had taken Bathsheba and had gotten her pregnant.
2 Samuel 11:14-15 ESV
In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 15 In the letter he wrote, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, that he may be stuck down and die.”
Who is Uriah? He is Bathsheba’s _________.
So, we see here that David commits the second sin,
the really big one. He breaks the
sixth commandment.
Exodus 20:13 ESV
You shall not murder.
He commits the murder by having someone else do it. The way he does this by given an order and setting things up with the general in such a way that Uriah will be killed in battle so that it will seem that he is just a casualty of war and not the murder victim he actually is.
AFTER URIAH IS KILLED
2 Samuel 11:26-27 ESV
When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she lamented over her husband. 27 And when the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she because his wife and bore him a son. But thing that David had done displeased the Lord.
The Lord is ____________ with David because of what he had done.
The sin he committed.
1 Chronicles 28:3 ESV
But God said to me, “You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.”
So, David could not build the temple because he was a man of war and had blood on his hands. He had been restored to the Lord but still was not allowed to do this.
I personally think the blood on his hands was the not the blood split in war but was the blood of Uriah the __________ man the David __________.
If you think that God can not forgive your sin, remember that David just committed the sin of murder and as we will see in our studies, David does what is needed to repent and God forgives and restores him.
He can call David a man after His own heart.
If God can forgive David the sin of murder
he certainly can forgive all of your sins.
