“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,”
– John 8:31-32
- Jesus was talking to ______ believers; people who had heard Him and reacted.
- Jesus said there is more to it; You must hear, believe, and ______ on His words.
- Hearing is not enough, as seen in the Parable of the Seeds:
Matthew 13:5-6, “…because they had no root, they withered away.”
- When you are not truly ___________ in Jesus’ words, and trouble hits, you have nothing to hold on to and quickly fall away.
- How to develop these roots: through ____________, talking to God, and being in His ________, the Bible.
- Through study you will gain a deeper understanding, and you may see many things that appeared hidden, at first, but are now ______________!
- __________ alone saves us, but it produces something; we want to continue in His Word and want to do the things that God wants us to do,
- The proof is in the continuing; James 2:26, “… faith without _________ is dead.”
- “The truth will set you free”: Jesus the Christ is the ____________ of the world.
- He is our Lord and Savior when we accept Him and what He freed us from: ______.
- We are set free from the penalty of sin; no longer under a sentence of _____________.
- We now have ______________ life with Him! He is always with us and will help us. We are never alone again!
.

– John 8:33
- They forgot they had been in bondage in ____________ and Babylon, and even now, in Rome.
- They forgot why they were there now, celebrating __________________.
.

– John 8:34-38
- He corrected them; they had been in _______________ bondage in their history, and they were in _________________ bondage because of their sin.
- Being the offspring of _______________ would not save them.
- If you commit a sin, then you become a ___________ of that sin.
- They do not want to hear the _________. They only want to hear what they agree with and what will empower them further.
.
“You are doing the deeds of your father.”
– John 8:39-41a
- They believed that, because of Abraham, they were chosen, were following the Law, and were right with ________.
- Jesus replied that Abraham would not have tried to kill Him because He was telling the __________ from God!
- He then accused them of following the deeds of the father they had chosen, the ___________!
.
“If God were your Father, you would love Me,”
– John 8:41b-43
- Jesus told them the truth; If they were truly following God as their Father, then they would _________ Jesus because He came from God and was there now.
- Jesus told them He did not come of His own will, but following ________’s Will.
- He said they couldn’t ______________ Him because they weren’t following God.
.
“You are of your father the devil, … you are not of God.”
– John 8:44-47
- Jesus accused them of following the devil, a _____________ from the beginning.
- In Genesis, with the temptation of _____ and then Adam, the devil caused death to be introduced to mankind. The second murder was when _______ killed Abel.
- He was, and is, a _________! He leads people into _______ by his lies.
- Jesus is sinless, yet they ___________ His Words. They do not hear or want to believe them because they are not children of ________.
