John 9:13-27 NASB

They *brought the man who was previously blind to the Pharisees – John 9:13-14

  • Healing: Jesus ______ in the dirt, made _____, and wiped it on the man’s _____
  • God doesn’t work in our ___________ zone. He works for His _________!
  • Prophets in uncomfortable situations: Ezekiel 4:4-8, Hosea 1:2-3, Isaiah 20:2-3
  • God is looking for us to do what He tells us to do! He will show us the _______!
  • Sabbath Day – set up by God to be a day of ________ for His people

The Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight – John 9:15

  • He was interrogated because he was on the receiving end of a _____________.
  • He had to repeat his story because they were uncomfortable with the ________.
  • The Sadducees – A group of religious men who didn’t believe in ____________.

“This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” – John 9:16

  • They didn’t like the answers they got, so they started to _______________ God.
  • _______________ – a consistent pressure in the church to start to focus on rules and regulations instead of focusing on God’s Will (Colossians 2:20-23)

FINAL THOUGHTS

Have you been set free?

When you have the Spirit of God living in you,

you will start to do what God wants you to do!

Jesus had a compassionate heart for the lost.

  1. Why is context important when we study the Bible?

  2. What are some things as Christians that we may find uncomfortable? What are some things in the Bible that may make some uncomfortable?

  3. Who are the Sadducees in the Bible? How are they different than the Pharisees?

  4. Read John 9:13-16 what is the Sabbath? Should Christians keep the Sabbath?  Why or why not?

  5. Read Romans 6:17-18, what does it mean “to be slaves to sin”? What does it mean in verse 18 “You have been set free from sin”?

  6. Read John 9:17-27, what is a synagogue? Why might it be an issue if you were “excommunicated” from the synagogue?  Can Christians be removed from the church?  Why or why not? What are some Biblical reasons for leaving a church? What does it mean to become a disciple of Jesus?

  7. If someone told you that you can lose your salvation, how could you look up scriptures about that topic?

  8. The Bible speaks about the unpardonable sin. What is it and how would we know whether or not we’ve committed it?

  9. Has God worked a miracle in your life? If you are willing to share with the group, please do so.
