“I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” – John 8:12

• Jesus ________________ the path for every Christian!
• It’s easy to say that we are Christian and have surrendered our lives to Jesus; our ________ will prove or disprove this statement.

“You are testifying about Yourself; Your testimony is not true.” – John 8:13

FINAL THOUGHTS & QUESTIONS

Being a Christian is not a set of rules and regulations.

It is a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

1. What stands out most to you so far in John’s Gospel? How does John’s gospel differ from the other 3 gospels?  How is it similar to the other 3?

2. Read John 8:12-18, what is the context of this section of scripture? What does it mean to “walk in darkness” (verse 12)? What is a testimony? Does every Christian have a testimony?  If willing, share your testimony with the group.

3. If someone who is not a Christian and has never been affiliated with a church asked you to explain grace, how would you explain it?

4. What are some ways we can show grace to others? What are some things in the church that might make you uncomfortable?  What are some things that you’ve seen other churches do that make you uncomfortable?  Can you still have a loving relationship with someone who “does church a little differently”?

5. Read John 8:19-30, Is Jesus God? If someone says they are a Christian but do not believe that Jesus is God, what are some ways you might be able to discuss that with them?  If someone says you believe in 3 Gods (Father, Son, Spirit), how could you address that statement?  How would you explain the “Trinity” to someone?

6. What is meant by “His hour had not yet come” in verse 20? What does it mean in verse 21, “die in your sin”?  What happens if we die in our sin?

7. What is God’s name?

8. How do you get to heaven? Do you have to repent to go to heaven?  Why or why not?

9. What is the significance of the phrase, “I am” in scripture?
